When you are purchasing a house there are two levels of survey to consider. One is designed to provide a general overview and suits modern and/or standard properties. The other is designed to be specific and comprehensive and better suits individual and older properties.

Some properties fall in between these guides and can suit both levels of survey, so then it will depend on how much detail you are looking for. A surveyors first job is to recommend which survey level is most suitable for you and the property.
